a living repository of arts and cultural expression

We are happy to report that the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Cultural Council approved the designation at their May 18, 2017 meeting in New Bedford. We are grateful to you and all the other individuals, organizations, and businesses who have worked to reach this milestone. You can read more about the designation in a recent article in The Boston Globe

The mission of the newly designated Roxbury Cultural District is to identify and recognize Roxbury's cultural assets and establish the tools, strategies, resources, and spaces that elevate the community of Roxbury as a living repository of arts and cultural expression--past, present, and future.

On January 24, the Roxbury Cultural District held its first official Board of Directors meeting. The district now has an 18-member board that will govern the district. Learn more about the board members on the About RCD page of this site. Stay tuned for additional details and opportunities to be involved in the district's activities.

We will be adding information and resources to this website over time, but we hope you will take a look and contact us with any questions about the district or suggestions. Please like us on Facebook or send us an email so we can add you to the mailing list or share information about your business or event.

Please join our growing list of partners; these organizations and businesses are sharing their time, expertise, and ideas in support of the cultural district planning and implementation process. Contact us to learn more about how you or your organization, business, or corporation can help support and benefit from the Roxbury Cultural District. In 2018, the RCD will begin to offer membership to our existing and new partners in Roxbury and beyond, individuals, and artists. You access additional information about the benefits of membership and dues here. We hope you will join us as a founding RCD member in 2018!

The RCD is grateful for the financial support of the following businesses and organizations. Thank you for your generous support during this critical start-up phase. Our May 19 launch is made possible in part by a Live Arts Boston grant from the Boston Foundation and these other generous donors.
