Bring your quotes, poems, statements and personal experiences on what gender equality is in the Black community. This is an open mic night that will talk about black men, black women, everyone in between and the laws and cultural norms that have shaped gender equality in our families, communities and society as a whole.
This event is free to attend. Food and beverages available for purchase.

Meta Arts is a multimedia art company founded by Carmen who specializes in fine art and theatrical arts. Her background in Education, English Literature and Art Therapy has influenced her to express herself as fully as possible through creating art that reflects her culture and interests. She has hosted a number of open mic nights honoring African American Authors and facilitating discussions about the issues that affect the Urban community at Haley House Café and Bakery in Roxbury, MA. She has also directed theatrical plays that address issues that impact women and has fund raised thousands of dollars for a number of local women's charities in the Boston area. In addition, she is a yoga instructor and currently accumulating service hours to obtain an Expressive Arts Therapist license. Her goal is to use art in all of its glory and power to promote community activism and unity.
